Dix Shipping is a full service stevedoring company, established in 1947, with offices in Brownsville and Corpus Christi, Texas. In 2011, Dix will celebrate 64 years of continuous service to the Port of Brownsville. Dix has broad-based experience in handling steel coils, steel plate, pipe, rolled wire rod, magnesite, petroleum coke, ferro alloys, cotton and bulk grains.


In 1989, Dix formed a relationship with Brownsville Gulfside Warehouse to offer complete port terminal services. By coordinating vessel and barge discharge, warehousing and truck/rail loadouts Dix is able to offer a complete package of services to our customers at our private terminal or at the public docks in the Port of Brownsville.

Brownsville Gulfside Warehouse, Inc operates ten (10) separate warehouses, totaling 540,000 square feet situated on 34 acres located inside the Port of Brownsville within a half mile of the ship channel. This location allows us to receive cargo by truck, rail, barge and vessel. Both the Union Pacific and Burlington Northern Railroads provide rail service. Shipments into Mexico by rail move on KCSTFM and all major Mexican truck lines which provide service to all major Mexican markets.

We also offer a well trained accounting staff to provide accurate and up to date reports on any products stored in the facility. In addition, our well-trained warehouse personnel can repackage and separate cargo as required.

Dix and Brownsville Gulfside have all the necessary cranes, forklifts and other equipment necessary to provide quick and efficient stevedoring and warehouse services. The equipment fleet that is available includes cranes from 25 ton to 155-ton capacity, forklifts from 5,000 lbs. to 62,000 lbs. and all other necessary support equipment.

Dix also offers full ship agency services through its affiliation with Dix Agency Brownsville, LP.. The company is agent for many shipping lines from around the world.
